Dr. P was who I went to and he recommended I get a trach. This was partly because I have existing TMJ (really bad, no cartilege left in joints) and he felt that I would need, and I quote -"to be on narcotics the rest of my life for TMJ pain" if I went through with an MMA. As you know I have other health issues that were just as challenging, so I went with the trach. He did say we could "revisit the situation" at a later time should my health issues improve.

Please let me know what you mean by "see my health situation get better". Is it worse because of the trach?
If so, how? Obviously just being 7 months out with my trach, I still have many more questions than answers. I'd be grateful if you could answer these questions.

I agree you should see Dr. P. He is a caring, honest, patient doctor. He listens well and will not rush you through the appointment. It is best to have your questions written down, however, so you don't forget something major. I was intimidated first meeting him after hearing so much about him on this forum. Thant changed (intimidation) when he hugged me right off the bat.

Please answer my questions. Thanks -- deedee
