Brandon, I had a septoplasty, tonsilectomy and uppp done at the same time last week. I don't remember much of Tuesday (8/29/00). Went in at 7:30am. Got some paperwork done and was taken back to the waiting area. They put an IV in there. Got taken upstairs about 15 minutes prior to surgery time. A nurse came and put a shoot in my IV and that's the last thing I remember until I was in my room. I sort of remember being wheeled around the hospital afterwards.

Stayed that night. They wake you up every two hours. Ice chips are about all you will want at that time. Maybe a water ice desert. You will be on oxygen with moisture. I had antibiotics and fluids going into my IV post surgery. Also this was how I got my pain medication. Morphine was the drug of choice. I could self regulate a certain portion of this. They give you a button to push and you get a dose. If you don't push it it will put it in anyway.

I was not in much pain. Sore throat when I swallowed. I had what they called a "trumpet" in one nostril. To me it was a big peice of plastic that went through my nose to the back of my throat. It came out very easy and did not hurt when they took it out.

I had chicken broth for breakfast. That tasted good.

Started my medications right when I got home. See my post today about the survival guide. Posted it before seeing your questions.

I was nervous about this surgery. Never been under before. So far, I'm glad I did it. I have not really been in much pain. Not like I expected. Chalk that up to good drugs or great ENT.

Hang in there. Everything will go fine.

Bob
