Frank:

The trache was presented to me as an absolute cure, but I found that I was dragging myself out of bed in the morning. I had not had to do that prior to the trache. I assumed that doctors knew what they were doing and that they knew all about traches.

It sure is reversible, but one must be careful about adhesions. Note to readers: Everybody get on edge!! The doctors said it could just be removed so when I was revolted by 'dragging myself out of bed' all the time and the lousy report on its effectiveness, I removed it and left it out. I do not recommend this!!! The incision healed up with an adhesion which was taken care of at the time my tongue was advanced by the genioglossus/hyoid procedure. (Is that sufficiently reversible for you?)

The doctors look at me sideways when I tell them that the trache didn't work. However, when I gave the latest ENT the report and showed him the math error he stated, "Your case will require some thought".

Perhaps I am being cynical when I state that in my opinion doctors, at times, feel that all that is needed is to tell us that whatever has been suggested will work.

This ENT has suggested the somnoplasty on my tongue, and he does not do it so someone else will have the chance.

Take care

ca Alamo Joe
