Hi John,
I had UPPP and (I believe-the procedure was never identified by this name) the "Repose" procedure back on June 19th of this year. There has been a significant improvement in breathing however I am still experiencing a lot of discomfort (tongue and roof of mouth). One issue not covered by my surgeon was the inability to "tongue sweep" the food particles from between my cheeks and jaw after eating. There was severe discomfort / pain for about 3 weeks after the surgery (I lost 25 lbs. - which I could afford to do !). I find that a lot of talking aggravates the discomfort and I have experienced some changes in my speech. My Dr. keeps telling me that I'm unusual and that only one other patient has experienced the same symptoms after this long. Ask your guy hard questions. I've considered reversing this many times so far and the only thing that has prevented that decision is the pain I've gone thru to get to this point. One important point - I'm breathing much better now than before - haven't used CPAP since the operation !
