Still problems a year after UPPP

Posted by Capistrano on July 05, 2006 at 17:59:38:

July 11 will be the one year anniversary of my UPPP surgery. I have had a rough time because a week after sugery I developed inhalation pneumonia, a panic attack, and since then I have had chronic acid reflux (despite being on a variety of meds) and been diagnosed with gastritis and a hiatal hernia. I have frequent nausea, lack of appetite and a chronic sour taste in my mouth. As we say in Yiddish, oy vey! I will be seeing a top GI guy at a teaching hospital in mid-August; in the meantime I am waiting for the results of an upper GI series. I don't know whether I should blame my UPPP for this hellish year, or assume that my acid reflux was pre-existing. Has anyone else had a similar experience after UPPP, and if so, has it gotten better? I can use all the reassurance you can provide...Thanks!
