By the way, my wife read my last reply to your post and wanted me to also state that the "Progression" pictures which we saw prior to surgery were somewhat lacking in the fact that the chin and upper lip were cut/pasted forward but the soft tissue was not shown as how it would be - pulled and thinned and blending the end result. She also suggests that looking at the picture is sort of like looking at a new, dramaticly shorter haircut. Shocking at first, but, you soon grow to recognize the new look in the mirror. I'm sorry if I came across as belittling your possible need for this surgery and yet still having concerns over your looks. I understand the position that you are in. I also know that my sleep problems were bad enough that my looks were a very low priority. This is a big, bad surgery and is not for the faint of heart. My body's design caused a restriction to have developed at the base of my tongue/back of my throat. MMA is usefull in this particular case. However, it's a radical procedure and should not be intended as a diagnostic tool. I tried CPAP, uvulectomy, nasal septoplasty, hyoid suspension, and the TAP jaw-thrust device all prior to considering the MMA. I suggest that you, also, exhaust all other courses of action prior to turning to MMA - especially if you feel that your looks, as they are and will become over the years, must not be affected (either for the better or the worse). I also feel that, should you come to realize that you do require the MMA, your looks will become just another part of who you are.
