Obstructive apnea is caused by a number of things including large or obstructive palatal structures (uvula, tonsils, palate itself), tongue, back of throat, upper airway problems (septal deviation or obstruction etc.)... We really don't know for certain all the things that could cause it yet, but one thing seems apparent - it can be a combination of factors. This makes it super hard to treat and leads to the common "partial cure."

I would not do another sleep study until the healing is COMPLETE. For most procedures, this takes at least 3 months and often 6 months.
