I've experienced some opiate-induced constipation, but nothing quite like this.

It has always been with the strong stuff given in the hospital during recovery. The hydrocodone has had no big effect on me.

That first movement can be pretty daunting, especially with a weakened body and even pain.

If you know that you are prone to this, you might consider something more industrial-strength than stool softeners and liquids. The last thing you want is to be inducing a medical emergency because you didn't want to use a true laxative. A laxative can also be WAY easier on your system than an enema.
