Ahh..this story sounds so familiar! I think my tuning point was at about 28 days. That is when I really started to feel like I was getting back to my old self. Not just a post surgery slug.

I had the same trouble with the jaw soreness. I was not banded at all, but eventually ended up banding at night for support as my jaws would fall open while I slept and I would awake with my jaws just killing me. It took a couple weeks to build the muscles up. Eating will help a lot with that as the chewing works the muscles and they will become stronger the more she does it. Part of the problem to is problem some residual swelling that is still hanging out in the jaw joint area. This took a good couple of weeks to work through, and I found warm heat packs really helped me with the achiness, especially in the evenings.

Sleep is another thing that takes awhile to return. I think it was about week 7 that a lot of the swelling in my mouth came down, and I really started sleeping more soundly. I couldn't sleep on my sides for quite awhile either, and being a side/stomach sleeper this made good, sustained sleep difficult. With that being said. I'm now sleeping like a baby and dreaming several times a night. Things in that area should start to improve a lot in the next few weeks, a lot can change in two weeks. The difference for me between 4 weeks and 6 weeks was tremendous. It will be worth the wait once she starts dreaming regularly again.

This whole journey is definitely an up and down process...even at 11 weeks there are still great days, and days that aren't so great. I've personally had two sinus infections since my surgery in an 11 week period. So it hasn't been all sunshine and roses! but it has definitely been worth it all and I'm so glad I had this surgery!

Wishing you well!

Brandy
