Tongue Base Surgery

Posted by CONSIDERING MMA SURGERY on September 07, 2007 at 12:50:42:

A very well respected sleep apnea ENT surgeon and a sleep doctor (dual certified who was rated one of the best doctors in the united states many times and writes lots of articles about sleep apnea surgery, and did a airway exam on me under anesthesia (to see how my airway looks while asleep) said the CPAP would never work for me with my airway.

What he wants to do is cut part of my tongue base cut off conservatively and a screw to tie my tongne down.

He said I would NOT be under anesthesia for this surgery. (so I guess it is conservative tongue surgery) . And says he has done about 100 of these surgerys and and the risk is about 5 perent. Mostly infection which was cured.

He said if that does not work he would cut off the bone behind my palate.

He also says there are a lot of risks with MMA surgery.

What do the wonderful people on this site think I should do?
