Jeremy,

I was so glad to get to the end of your post and read that you have written authorization for each procedure. Put this in a very safe place! Make copies!

Congrats on getting the ball rolling. January will be here before you know it! Enjoy your holiday and eat crunchy food.

Do yourself a favor and order the chin sling with hot/cold gel packs from the ZipNSqueeze folks. I wore this sling constantly for the first week or so and then wore it to bed for comfort for several weeks afterwards. It is soft yet supportive. The gel packs apply heat/cool just where you need it.
While you are ordering the sling, order the book "The Healing Jaw". It does a great job of preparing you for surgery (what to expect, what to have on hand, etc). It also has lots and lots of smoothie recipes.

Clear your schedule for at least 6 weeks. Your energy will be focused on healing and you just won't feel like doing anything else.

Print up a copy of Seattlebill's recovery timeline and post it on you refrig. so that you will see it everyday of recovery. Those first couple of weeks while you are living through them seem to last forever.

Again, congrats on clearing the initial insurance hurdle (the second hurdle is following up to make sure they actually pay what they say they will pay). Now you can just focus on preparing yourself mentally for surgery. The forum is here for you - keep us updated please!

Peace,
Anne (apneamom)
