I had the same surgery 3 weeks ago (12/11/07). I have just turned a corner myself; and at 6 days i was feeling the same, if not worse. You will get better before you know it.

The drooling subsided for me not too long after i got my wiring cut out (week 2). The swelling stinks, but goes down slowly every day. Right now i am left with sorness around my dissolving stitches, between my lips and gums. The bowel movements are few and far between b/c you cant get much down of any substance. I was constipated for a few days after i came home from the hospital (4 days after surgery). If it continues you need to contact your doctor. I also got the blues after a few days but it was the cumulative effects of everything - left over anaesthesia, morphine, vicodin, swelling, pain, etc. As soon as you are able to (and maybe with the help of others) get out for some quick errands, have some friends or family over for a few minutes, anything to feel somewhat normal. My biggest issue up until yesterday (3 weeks post surgery) was i had very little stamina. i could go shopping with my wife for some basic things, right by my home for 30 minutes, then 45 mins, hour and a half, etc. All in due time. I know i would have gone batty if it wasnt for my wife being home to help me through the 3 weeks. The first 2 were absolutely tough.

How are you doing now? I now fear the nagging chronic pain that i will have to endure from tune ups with my braces. I just had my rubber bands swapped out and moved farther back (to advance my lower jaw, even more forward - to preserve the bite).
