Thanks for jumping in, Buggy! I'm glad that there is someone to ask about Dr. V and the Mayo Clinic.

One question that pops into my head immediately is....When you compare your experience with the experience of others you've read about on this board, would you say that yours has been at least as good? Do you also have the utmost confidence that your procedure was done in the best possible manner and right reasoning?

I guess that's two questions, but kind of along the same lines.

I will be meeting Dr. V for the first time in a couple weeks, so I don't have any idea what the specific recommendations will or won't be, but I'm hungry for info.

Another question(s)....Was the GA discussed and ruled out or wasn't it ever part of the discussion? Also, did you have two surgeons working at once? After 8 weeks, are you uback to work and functioning pretty well? And, lastly(for now), do you know how many of these Dr. V has performed with the focus being on correcting OSA?

If I were to answer buckthorn's question about why to pick an OSA specialist, it would be this.... Any qualified surgeon could move your jaws any given distance with some measure of success. One who specializes in moving your jaws with a focus and experience in correcting OSA is going to have a clearer picture of what the end result should be and have a better understanding of how to get there. So, I'm in aggreement with other posts suggesting that you want someone who is an "expert" in moving jaws to correct your specific problem.
