Well...

Absolutely not !

You will be quite amazed at how this procedure will sap your stamina and energy for 2-6 weeks. The first 2 weeks you will be focused on ADLs (activities of daily living...feeding, bathing, and toileting...everything else at that point is gravy).

Drive...no ! You will be impaired. A true danger to yourself and others. Even if you aren't taking pain meds, your brain will lack concentration and focus. Your reaction times will be substantially diminished. And...in many states, if you do get into a fender-bender, you will be cited as being medically impaired.

Walking around, in a controlled fashion, is actually encouraged...it will slowly build up your stamina. However, just be aware that it should be a "silver sneakers" mall walk with built in rest stops...and a mechanism for a "sag" pick up if needed.

Lifting, struggling animals, feed sacks, etc... is absolutely contra-indicated and ill-advised. Why ??? Well, any increase in building up venous pressure (through isometric straining, straing at the toilet, lifting, etc...) may cause venous bleeds in your face and neck in fresh surgical sites... bad enough to cause you to go the hospital or maybe even get a re-op. Also, if you get kicked in the face, head, etc...then you'll have undergone the whole operation just to have those fresh bones get knocked loose before they have a real chance to heal.

The "recovery timeline" is very much a your mileage may vary thing. However, there are absolute restrictions that need to be followed to protect the results of your surgery. And, the first two weeks at least...will be rough, dedicated healing time that many of us have regarded as being pretty intense physically and psychologically. Don't under-estimate this early phase !!

Where do you live ? I'll fly out and take care of your animals !!

Bill
