When we have our MMAs, we are nasally intubated, and have nasal fiberoptic exams. Alot goes on up there instrument-wise. Plus, as the upper jaw moves forward, the nasal architecture (and appearance) in some cases are altered.

So there are alot of reasons why sinuses, and the nasal airways are a problem post-op MMA surgeries.
Usually these are transient in nature, and like most things , they will subside.

On the other hand, many people do require minor corrective nasal surgery (which is a comparative breeze...pun intended) after their MMA. None of us is in any mood to have additional procedures after an MMA (trust me, I agree!!!). However, like any other bit of re-construction (on anything...your face, house, car, etc...), there is often additional minor corrective work that can be done later.
