Good news!

Consider severe > mild a success! This will likely prolong your life by a number of years as well as making it better quality.

My apneas almost completely disappeared but my hypopneas went up while sleeping on my back (post-MMA). Good thing I don't sleep on my back... The biggest change was in my sleep architecture - my REM sleep % went up considerably.

MMA doesn't create good sleep automatically, it just removes the "blockage" to good sleep. Often we need to relearn how to sleep properly. This may take some time (boy, is this a familiar refrain in the world of MMA).

The nasal fix (probably a septoplasty) will be a great step - and easy compared to what you've been through. You may even begin breathing through your nose more. You could even look at it like it is the icing on this wonderful cake you've been given.
