Swordz,

You can experience periodic leg movements that follow an
apnea, hypopnea, or RERA (respiratory-event related arousal).
The movement occurs because it is the bodies attempt to wake
you up from a deeper sleep. You can tell on the sleep
hypnogram when the restless leg movement occurs in that
situation. So to that end- treating the apnea would also
decrease the associated movements that were initiated to arouse
the patient.

But if you have restless legs movement that is not associated
with terminating a sleep disordered breathing event, I would not
think that the RLS would improve. However, if two factors are
leading to your daytime sleepiness, improving one of them
would likely help you overall. I think one way to assess that
would be to see you did following a CPAP titration. If you felt
better (with or without improvement in the leg movements) I
would think that is a good sign.

Good luck
