Oddy enough, this will make the second version (two different sizes) of that pillow that I have rejected. Last night, during my usual 2:00 AM to ~ 3:30 AM awakened period, I thought about your original question - What is wrong with sleeping on my side? I have a better answer now. If sleeping on my left side, I place my left hand on my right shoulder and point my left elbow straight out from my chest. This causes my forearm to force my chin towards my forehead and tilts my head "back," thus opening my airway. This is the only way that I can sleep without choking awake. Of course, this strains my neck dearly. I'm guessing that it's about time to get a sleep test and maybe retry CPAP or investigate other possibilities. Don't get me wrong, the MMA I fully consider a "success." I now get sleep. Any sleep is better than no sleep. During my several pre-MMA sleep tests, I hade only one 30-second period of REM. No other REM existed. Life, experientially, was rather harsh. Now, I dream fairly regularly and life is good. But the neck, she's a-sore. Win some, lose some. All in all, it's truly been a life-enhancing experience.
