Hi, Michael,

Is there anyway that you can be seen quickly for an evaluation by a sleep specialist familiar with your options? I'm thinking of someone who has expertise both in OSA and CA. You do have severe sleep apnea by any definition. As I read your post, I wonder how you even had the stamina to put out such a cogent and detailed presentation.

I was one of the ones who went from a brief and unsuccessful course of CPap to MMA, and in retrospect I should have gone to MMA sooner. I would have shortened the agony. I am a female and a psychotherapist--making no apology for either :)--and know in my personal and professional experience that interrupted sleep and sleep deprivation play an integral part in causing depression and/or anxiety.

I am hardly a sleep apnea expert but have learned from this message board and my own surgeon who performed by MMA. My tonsils and adenoids went long ago, and those soft tissue surgeries were the only ones that he would have considered as part of my treatment for sleep apnea. Large tongue, narrow palates, high arch--with this kind of classic configuration going on--he recommended an MMA in favor of everything else. (If you've read my follow-up postings, you will note that my decision to go ahead with his advice has served me well.)

The reason I am encouraging you to see an expert is because of your combination diagnosis, OSA and CA. I would think that an MMA would dent your nightly OSA disturbances but believe it important for all this to be discussed within the context of your central sleep apnea.

I am trusting that one of "our male MMA vets" will respond soon. Please hang in here with us. I am holding good thoughts for you would like for you to stay in touch.
