Michael,
I also searched for a definitive diagnosis to my problem , and while there are good docs locally(Midwest), I seemed to get a different answer each time I had either an examination or sleep study. I finaly went out to Stanford for a PSMG and MSLT. Other than the outlay for travel, the cost was about the same as at a local hospital. However my ins. only covered at 70% since they are out of my network. I know they also work with patients on a budget, and I believe thay can reduce the cost of some services based on need. In any event, my recommendation, if you want to go that route, would be to go out there for a complete diagnosis, then you could decide where and when you want to have surgery, if they recommend it. They are very thorough and they told me things that no other local clinic had up to that point. All I did was google the Stan. sleep Center and made an appointment. It was very easy. It gave me peace of mind knowing I had real issues-even though the road to recovery is not easy. Let me know if you need additional info.
