If you're a meat eater, go out for a steak dinner the week before surgery. You won't be eating that stuff for a while :-)

Don't be too discouraged though. I was allowed to start chewing at 6 weeks post-op. I'm now 8 weeks post-op and I haven't tried steak yet, but I'm already able to eat hamburgers, chicken, sandwiches, pasta, cooked vegetables, etc. I could probably eat steak if it was really tender and buttery.
