I can understand your concern. I felt exactly the same way when I had my surgery. I went to a teaching hospital where there is a big wheel surgeon too, and I asked my surgeon several times if he would do the surgery personally. He promised me that he would, and he did.

On the other hand, sometimes I feel that I have been selfish. After all, universities (incl. Stanford, Harvard, etc.) are teaching facilities by definition. People like NP, etc. are not just doing surgeries, they are training the next generation of elite surgeons to take their places. Every great surgeon like KL used to be a resident. I am sure that the residents are carefully watched and supervised by the big wheels when they do the surgeries so that everything will be perfect.

What can we say? It is a dilemma.
