I am writing to warn everybody about a product called Chlorhexidine Oral Rinse. It is also known as Perichlor. I just had my braces removed, and was told that this rinse took some of the enamel off my teeth in the spots where the braces had been. Luckily, the damage was not all that bad because I did not have the braces on so long, but at the same time, it is a loss. Damage to tooth enamel is permanent. To my knowledge there is no way to replace enamel.

I used the rinse for only the period after my surgery, but it appears that the rinse has done damage to my teeth. In fairness, I was told by doctors that there was a risk that this could happen. I got unlucky. In any case, I want to tell everyone about this. It is kind of a bummer. I used to have very nice, smooth and shiny bright teeth. I have taken good care of my teeth, and never been a smoker.

I want to recommend to everyone not to use Chlorhexidine Rinse (Perichlor). I think it is a terrible product and should be bannned.
