As for your first question - how do I know I am better. It is just obvious. Very few if any jolts now as compared to more frequent more intense and persistant jolts beforehand. In the mornings feeling alert - very alert. Not dizzy like beforehand. Feel renewed energy. I am quite sure that my improvement is not merely psychosomatic. I am sure that I would show improvement on the PSG test. I am being realistic. I never set my heart on anything. In fact, I was kind of bracing for the worst.

Doing your homework is really important. In OSA surgery, which involves the airway, there are lots of quacks out there. In my view, it is absolutely vital that a person sees the best surgeon going. Can't affort to get it wrong. Unsatisfactory results can make the patient much worse off. A few millimeters doesn't matter much for putting an artifical joint replacement into an old lady's hip, but a few millimeters matters big-time when it comes to the diameter of your airway.

You can find Dr. G. in Halifax by calling up the Oral and Maxillofacial Department in the College of Dentistry at Dalhousie University. If you ask which surgeon specializes in MMA surgery and has a name that begins with the letter G. and ends with an "oodday", you'll know that you have the right man. :) The hosptial he works out of is named after the Queen who famously said "we are not amused".

Best of luck.
