Dear Capistrano,
I read your piece. It was well written. We have chatted about UPPP from time to time over the last couple of years.
I certainly agree that this program "Rules of Engagement" is 100 percent off the mark in saying that you can treat snoring with UPPP. That is the mistake I made (I got the LAUP - laser variation of that same operation that you did for primary snoring only to have developed severe sleep apnea due to scar tissue formation). I am paying a big price for following that disinformation now. It has cost me thousands of dollars and has done great damage to my cardio-vascular health.
I used the word "DISINFORMATON". It just came out spontaneously as I was writing the last paragraph. In my opinion it is the perfect word for what is going on because it is not for lack of knowledge that people are duped. The results about UPPP are in. The facts are that certain people have different motivations for giving UPPPs to people who do not need them and who should not be given them (e.g. people with primary snoring like myself). Results are that damage is done.
Mrs. Capistrano, I thought that that website was excellent. AWAKE seems like a really great organization. I would like to get involved.
