People on sleepnet.com very often referring to this on poster excellent method on evaluating a surgeon for sleep apnea surgery. They say to ask the surgeon some of these questions. I have added some of my own.

Here the are:

1. How many MMA surgeries you have performed.

2. How many MMA surgeries for sleep apnea.

3. How may rotations where the lower jaw goes out father than the upper jaw.

4. How may rotations where the lower jaw goes out further than the upper jaw for sleep apnea.

5. What are the risk and benefit of the rotations vs. straight out MMA?

6 What makes MMA more complicated on certain individuals and on complicated surgeries what are the risks

7, Does the rotation increase the airway more that straight out and why. Some surgeons say it is only a theroy that rothation increases the airway.

7 What is your over all success rate in lowering sleep apnea with MMA looking at the below.

A By getting your patients with to feel 70 percent or more awake

B By improving there sleep architecture so they go into a deeper sleep and feel 70 percent more awake.

B By lowering the RDI 50 percent or more

C By lowering below 20 RDI

D By lowering below RDI

8 What are the other procedures you currently do and how many do you do of each.

9 what is your success rate of the other procedures and the risk and benefits in terms of the success rates listed above in number 7 above.

What do you all think?

Replies very welcome and very appreciated.
