In January I had my upper jaw advanced 10mm, my lower jaw advanced 15mm, plus a GA. Pre-surgery, I was pretty normal weight: 6'1", 185 lbs. I lost 5 lbs in the hospital. Unlike many others, I did not lose any further weight after I left the hospital. I'm still 180 lbs today.

Surgically, the MMA was a success. I recovered fine, and there is now more room in my airway near the base of my tongue. But subjectively, the MMA has helped my sleep very little, if at all. I've started back on CPAP, at the same pressure as pre-surgery(16 cm). I was a bit disappointed, but not too surprised. I have a large tongue and a large, low-hanging soft palette. It is possible that I need soft-tissue surgery in addition to the MMA. I'm also trying to lose 10 lbs because my neck is a tad pudgy.

At this point, if I had to choose again, I would still choose the MMA because I think it is a necessary step in my eventual (hopeful) cure. I was quite retrognathic pre-surgery, and so I was an ideal candidate for an MMA. My jaws are now much better proportioned.

I don't have real numbers yet; I'll get those after my sleep next Monday. However, I do have a wristwatch-style pulse oximeter and its data show that I'm still having oxygen desaturizations down into the high 80's.
