Posted by Pinski on April 30, 2008 at 13:01:05:Hello;
My name is Pinski, I live in San Francisco and although I’ve been a lurker for several months, this is my first posting.
Several years after my 1994 UPPP surgery, my apnea returned, although I’m not sure it ever left because I was never told I should have a follow-up sleep study.
A recent sleep study puts me at “severely moderate” apnea with a RDI of 25 and low (not sure off the top of my head *how* low)oxygen saturation. Many of my episodes last up to 49 seconds, which seems pretty scary.
After a long and expensive search for the right doctor, I have scheduled an MMA and GA procedure with Dr. KL in Palo Alto, which will happen in 5 weeks (6/4) at Stanford.
I'm nervous, but very excited.Many, many thanks to everyone who’s contributed and commented on this site. When I first heard what MMA was, (and that I was a likely candidate for it) my first inclination was to panic, but then I found various blogs (starting with Western Joes' and Cupertino Joes’) which lead me to this forum. I now feel more knowledgeable and informed, which in turn has upped my confidence level a whole lot.
As to not make this first posting too long, I too have decided to throw my hat in to the blogging ring, so if you are interested in following me through all of this, please feel free to head over to: http://sanfranpinski.blogspot.com to have a gander at what I’ve written so far. I’ve decided to take a different approach about how to write it, so you may or may not like it.
Again, thanks to everyone;
warm regards:Pinski
