1)Asians are interesting. The biggest determinant of OSA in Asian people are a tendency to have brachycephalia (foreshortened midface). Since I had one, Dr KL and I had a lengthy and insightful discussion about that topic. Small amounts of weight in that body frame make more of an impact than a few kilos on a larger bodyframe.
2) Gastric Bypass is a VERY BIG DEAL. It is Real surgery with major risks that are life threatening. By comparison, the MMA is a big deal with some risks that are non-life-threatening.
Do a Gastric Bypass surgery to save your life, but not to cure your OSA. It may or may not work for that...and you may yet need more CPAP or surgery after the bypass surgery.
Look into a gastric band operation first. It is the more benign cousin that doesn't share many of the risky features of a gastric bypass.
