I'm in the process of dropping some weight. I was up to nearly 200 and am now around 180 depending on which scale I use. My ideal weight was 175 back when I was in my early 30's (54 YO now) and training karate very hard so 175 is my goal.

I can't say that I've noticed any improvement in my apnea other than what I attribute to the intense group cycle class I attend once each week.

My apnea has worsened to 30 times an hour in the past year or so from a low of 15.

My theory is that since I have stopped training intensely 2 years ago my overall muscle tone has dropped. I've also noticed a large decrease in other things like balance, concentration and hand eye coordination.

I would say that in my case weight probably isn't one of the biggest factors.
