I did end up going through with the surgery (see my recent post in reply to my original).

It's funny, the last thing you mentioned about 2nd and 3rd opinions, but ultimately it's up to you. I went through the EXACT same thing.

I didn't actually go for a 2nd opinion mainly because I felt that I know exactly what I'm up against. It's a risky surgery and doesn't have a high success rate.

However, when I also looked in the mirror at the back of my throat...I thought, "you know...even SANS tonsils, I don't have much of an airway...let's just do it".

I breathe much better than I did. So far, no regrets.
