As part of my update, I should have mentioned that there is
significant improvement in returning sensation to my hard
palate. But here follows my acid test which I've been running on
a weekly basis. . I can still stand to tickle the roof of my mouth
with my tongue. 100% return of sensation would be marked by
my not having much tolerance for this measure.

I too am interested in hearing from people who did not enter
the MMA with lots of soft tissue work. This blip of mine, I think,
falls into a "minority" category. Remember that WesternJoe had
a UP3 after an MMA although he did so because he was still
having OSA trouble. If the "sponge" in my throat is contributing
to the few apneic episodes which I've had since my surgery, I
don't think I am consciously aware of it. I am aware that there's
a big, tissue blog in there.

I keep thinking that I always had small jaws, high arch, narrow
palate, big tongue, long uvula, (now pleasingly shortened thanks
to Dr. KL), lots of pharyngeal tissue on board. . . Everything gets
pulled forward so the tissue comes forward and meets up with
the tongue. Does that make any sense? My husband has a more
elegant possible explanation having to with the advancement of
the jaws and the fulcrum, and I now forget what all else. We'll
run both of our theories by Dr. KL so that he can get a big
guffaw, and we can listen enthralled with his interpretation.

At any rate, I do hope you MMA vets, minus preceding UP3, will
weigh in on your experience. Thanks so much.
