Here is a link which, I think, gives a very good description and diagram. I have already had my tonsils and adenoids out as a child in the dark ages. In December of 2007, post MMA, I had a uvula trim, not for sleep apnea, but because it was sitting on the back of my tongue. A pharyngeal lift leaves the uvula in tact along with the center soft, oral pharynx tissue. Dr. KL tends to be very conservative with soft tissue work beyond tonsils and adenoids, so this procedure is one that he uses to get a better result post MMA.
