Hi I am day 16 post op having had MMA with Dr. KL and I have some questions for you MMA war vets. I had a rough time dealing with the pain in the beginning and then the pain turned to tightness. Now it is a mixture of the two and I am only taking tylenol (though I have a bottle of morphine I am avoiding like the plague). Is this normal? One side is obviously still more swolen than the other still but overall most has come down. I have been doing cold and hot heat on the areas.

Of course I am waiting for the magic day I wake up and the discomfort is gone but I am wondering what I should expect. I did not expect such a slow recovery. I am sleeping better when I am fatigued to the point of falling asleep due to the discomfort. I have daytime fatigue but its WAY better than when the OSA was kicking my butt. My airway is now really open and unlike previously I can now sleep on my back at night! Previously I would go into convulsions when sleeping when my tongue cut off airway.

So any thoughts appreciated. I wish I could fast forward to week 6 or more. The tightness and pain at break points in jaw seems to come on stronger at night. Of course my fear is having any requirment of follow up surgery so I am trying to do EVERYTHING right. Eat like horse, do some excercise, sleep all i can and rest.

Thank you
Sturmer
