Hang in there Sturmer! One of the most difficult parts of this surgery (I think) is handling the slow recovery. I mean truly it is imcomprehensible what it is going to be like until you are really going through it and waiting, day by day to get better.
I can say this as I'm now at one year and still healing. It is definitely a long slow journey, but oh so worth the results.
The first couple of weeks really are the worst. I think for me it was about the end of week three when I really started to notice a difference in the amount of discomfort and achiness. Also the pain was worse at night for me. I literally had to sleep with heat packs on my jaw joints in order to sleep, and it was not good sleep but broken a lot due to the achiness and just overall uncomfortable feeling.
The fact that you are eating well and stayiny hydrated will serve you well, so keep up the good work. I wish there was some great piece of advice I could give you but there just isn't. All of us who have gone through this have to suffer through those first inital weeks. It stinks, and is quite unpleasant at times, but try and keep a positive attitude about it. Soon it will all be a distant memory, but for now, you are just going to have to hang tough and know that things will get better.
Wishing you well!
