Not much to tell really other than that EDS was catching up with me a couple of years ago and so I started looking around for answers. Prior to that I knew nothing about the sleep/breathing connection. My first stop was an ENT who told me that I had a deviated septum. Had that corrected to a degree and then had a turbinate reduction. Worked with CPAP on and off for about a year, but never felt that I was making much progress. After visiting a few local docsf, I finally went out to the Stanford Sleep Clinic for a PSG and MSLT. Dr. CG told me that although I am slender, my cranial anatomy and large tongue predispose me for labored respiration during sleep. They recommended BiPAP and possibly MMA. When I was out there DR. KL also examined me and said that I had a lot of excess tissue at the back of the throat that could be removed. Hence the pharyngeal lift last July. My RDI is not that high, but as we know it doesnft always correlate with feelings of daytime fatigue. So now that I have thoroughly bored you all I can say is that I am contemplating my next move. I will probably go back to a concentrated effort at CPAP before I have any additional surgery.
Just some thoughts
