Hello all-

This site is a Godsend. I have horrible sleep apnea. I don't know my numbers (its been awhile since my sleep study) and I don't know the lingo (ha) but should, so please bear with me.

I have had a septoplasty, my tonsils/adenoids removed, soft palate shaved, uvula (sp?) removed.

I had a CPAP ofr awhile and hated the things. Incredibly annoying and I still snored like crazy with it on.

Now, still have sleep apnea, just not as bad-- but bad still where I wake up feeling tired, have snored like a Bear all night, holding my breath, etc, and I just heard of MMA.

I am 35, 6'3" and 250 lbs. I am not obese- 15 to 20 lbs overweight. (Big shoulders built like a linebacker).

Here is my question (after all that): Those of you that had MMA and are recovered- Is your sleep better? And what about physical activities? I am a big outdoors person-- can you be active- swim, run, whatever... and not be in pain?

Obviously I am seeing it takes a YEAR to recover, which is sobering in and of itself. But I am interested in hearing from those fully recovered-- how is it post recover- say a year and six months later? two years later? Is life that much better that you are glad you had the surgery done?

Also, I am in Advertising (Internet) and talk all day- how soon before that is not a problem?

Also, it sounds as though some of you had a recessed chin- i am the opposite. My chin is a little prominent- would MMA make look like a Neanderthal?

I realize a Doctor can best answer these questions but I am VERY interested in what all of you have to say. I just want to sleep normal.......

Thanks!
