Bob:
Congratulations on the anniversary!
It's definitely a challenge after a surgery like this to evaluate success and failure.
I've found that 3+ years later, my numb areas don't bother me unless I've been reading this forum and being reminded of why I'm numb in a few areas. Otherwise, it is hardly even noticeable. Time probably will help here.
My nose also got a little worse after MMA. A good deal of the problem was pre-existing, and the MMA just tipped it over the edge. I had a variant of the septoplasty to fix it and I'm very glad I did.
I had the jaw clicking also, but it was worst between 6-10 months. It seemed to go away the more I used my jaw for chewing. My theory is that building up the jaw muscles helps the jaw movement stay consistent. I now have no clicking or popping.
I found that the negatives, while very real, were FAR outweighed by the positives for me. So it became easier to just focus my energy on the improvements in my life. Otherwise, I realized that I would be unfairly giving too much attention to a relatively small number of items. (sort of like looking at an empty glass while ignoring a table laden with dozens of full ones)
I hope you continue seeing improvements in your own health and life!
