Hey, Captin, I want you to know how much I appreciate your bon mots. Thank you for speaking up. I, too, share your concerns about soft tissue work. Although I had a T and A in the dark ages, I did opt to go straight to MMA as my first treatment for sleep apnea. This decision was made in discussion with Dr. KL, who is not an aficionado whatsoever of soft tissue surgeries (except for getting tonsils out of the way) as a first course of action with sleep apnea, especially if it's moderate to severe.
My understanding of this upcoming pharyngealplasty is that it would be quite modified to his standards. He actually calls it a pharangeal lift. It is more like a lift and tuck rather than extensive tissue excision. When he first corrected my extra long uvula, he only trimmed it. As I write, it's there fulfilling its intended purpose but is no longer draped across the back of my tongue.
You're right that Dr. KL first recommended a tincture of time back in February. However, when I told him in May that the throat tissue was even more of a wad and that I was having some apneic events, I was pleased to hear him say that this procedure is one that he would do for me. He believes he can reduce the volume of tissue and open my airway even more, given that he had advanced me 12mm and couldn't go a scintilla more.
I think the key to this next procedure is that it will be done gingerly and with discretion. Remember Dr. KL's hands? They move with a light precision almost like a dance.
Now the only blackjack table I've ever played has been the one in my dinette. I am notorious for hitting on that king and a six.
