Well here is my free advice :-)

Try the CPAP. You may hate it, but give it a chance. It is the most conservative treatment. It is good to have a conservative treatment to fall back on (if the CPAP works for you).

If you have chronic tonsillitis and apnea, then definitely consider having your tonsils removed.

I would try weight loss before doing a UPPP, although I can see your ENT's point about having the UPPP and the tonsillectomy done at once. I've found that a brief workout in the morning helps me avoid EDS during the workday. A morning workout will also kick-start your metabolism.

Make sure the EDS is actually being caused by apnea and not low blood sugar or some condition like that.

Forumlate a "plan of atttack" and keep at it... each week, review your status and say "what will I do next week to beat my sleep apnea?" I find that I am often so tired that I forget to schedule doctor's appointments, use my CPAP, etc. So it helps to be very organized about it.

Jeremy
