I just wanted to drop in and tell anyone who is interested how things have gone after getting my trach so many years ago.
I have severe osa. My pulmonologist said he had 2000+ patients in our area and mine was the worst case he had to deal with. I don't want to go into my story you can find it at www.peaceful-river.com/osa Needless to say cpap was not working for me and I decided to do something before I developed serious health problems.
I did research for 2 or 3 months - spent a lot of time here talking to people who have had various surgeries and decided to get a trach.
After I got my trach my life improved 110% in a very short time. I was able to stay awake during the day and my ability to do my job jumped dramatically. Unfortunately I had such a bad reputation for falling asleep and poor performance that when they restructured I was the first to go.
I have had other jobs, discovered a new passion in life (love helping people in a chaplain type capacity) and I finished my BA in Theology with a Biblical languages minor. I am hoping to be hired as a pastor soon.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Sandman and the good people on these fourums. Thank you. Sandman you have helped so many people with Sleepnet.com... my hats off to you.
