Wow I just did a little reading on MMA and it would scare me. It sounds like a good solution for many severe osa suffers but I noticed some things that I personally would have had to really thin kabout before going that route.

1. It sounds like MMA is not typically the only surgery needed to completely address all the causes of osa that a person might be experiencing.

2. Recovery time is huge and the thought of having my mouth wired shut that long is daunting. Not to mention the fact that I have never worked anyplace that would give me that kind of vacation time.

3. Long term side effects of numbness in the face, mouth, lips etc... that is the scary part to me.

If you read my story on my web site I was back to work in a much shorter time. I have to admit though I have had infections over the years and have to order a new tube every several months so a trach is not the perfect solution. But if I had to choose between the two I still think I would have chosen the one time surgery 100% cure I got with my trach.

In any case each person is different and has to figure out how to deal with severe osa with a doctor.
