Hi everyone,
Its been 7+ months since my MMA surgery and i have been healing well, but 2
painful things remain. 1st are my teeth - I am wearing clear retainers that
surround my teeth all the way around. I was told that the pain in my teeth
will remain until the bones heal. Unfortunately, no one will tell me how
long this will be. I feel great relief when my retainers are off; but right
now i cant take them off unless i am cleaning them. I have been seeing a
pain mgmt specialist but none of the drugs can really be taken during the
day, since i drive all day. I will get some relief in the fall, as i will be
able to wear them only at night; or take them off at night.

2nd, most annoying and painful is my lower lip. I still cant feel much of
my chin (very dull to the touch). From the skin fold (middle of chin) on my
chin, up to my lip, i have the opposite effect. My bottom lip is so
sensitive, i would say hyper sensitive. The more i talk the more it hurts/
gets sensitive. I am seeing a physical therapist who is running me through
this de-sensitizing program. Right now i am rubbing velcro across the area
(started with cotton). I dont feel this is really helping much.
Anyway, has anyone else had these symptoms post op this far out? If so, how
long did they take to go away? What programs or things did you do to
alleviate the pain/sensitivity? Sore in NY
