Since I started having trouble breathing last year while training for a 5K - I had an allergy test and tested negative for the standard allergens. I've had sinus problems for as long as I remember. It seems to run in my family. (I'm the youngest of 8 kids!) Two of my sisters were told that their nasal and ear canal are deformed causing the sinus and ear infections - since they don't drain properly. When I was about 10yrs old they sent me for a lot of xrays to find out why I had so many bad sinus infections -but they didn't find anything abnormal.

As for the asthma, the allergist thought I may have exercise induced asthma. The inhaler didn't help. I started having more trouble breathing with exercise so I went for a stress test - all was normal. I've never had any sort of chest cold or bronchitis.

I haven't had a bad sinus infection in years and I'm always somewhat congested :(

Lastly - I've mentioned to several doctors that my neck always feels tight like it's swollen. My voice is hoarse often (esp after exercise) and always have the lovely crud. Any tips on how to get the doctors to look into this further - they always just say I have a upper respiratory infection and prescribe me some allergy medicine. What tests should I try to get them to do?

Anyone else have this problem?? ... feel so helpless.
