I just joined the cpap club (or should i say, the I HATE cpap club) I was just diagnosed a month ago and got my machine last week. So far, HORRIBLE. I have the nasal pillows and like you, I'm very claustrophobic. I flipped out when they put the full face mask on me. I also have the same dilemma of sinus/nasal issues. My nose is stuffy most of the time, so it makes the wearing the mask feel like I'm suffocating. I've actually developed a fear of going to sleep. I feel WORSE now than I did before the cpap. I'm extremely tired and feel sick.

Since I'm 28, I've been trying to make the rounds of finding out why I have this and what I can do about it. No one will give me an answer - so you're lucky for knowing! I'm not willing to wear a mask at night for the rest of my life - AT LEAST not until I have researched and/or tried other options. I've woken up every morning with a dry throat and mouth no matter what level of humidity I have it set to. This leads me to believe I open my mouth at night. :(

Anyways, before I go on and add more grumbling about my troubles, I wanted to say what my ENT said about insurance approval. If I get my tonsils out, it'll be for my chronic tonsilitis and if I get my nose fixed, it'll be for my sinus troubles. Neither is a lie, I do get frequent sinus infections and tonsillitis about once a month. At first, she recommended the UPPP but I've read too many horror stories, not yet convinced that it would work. For the UPPP, the insurance requested that I give the CPAP a try beforehand (not sure about the fine print on that policy)

Anyways, good luck to you!
