Well, I ended up with arch bars and wired shut, but that wasn't the pre-surgery plan. What was supposed to happen was that he wasn't going to put anything on me after the surgery. I was a little concerned with that idea myself after reading about everyone else's experiences. But, after having gone through everything I have with my surgeon, I have no doubt in my mind that if he thought I didn't need any banding or wiring, he would most likely have been right.
