I emailed Dr. KL, and his response:

"I usually have patients use rubberbands. It is not wired. There
would be some movements of the jaws allowed. I would not
have patients move freely postsurgery."

So, I am a little scared that my surgeon seems to not be using
bands, but I'm not for sure. How do I initiate this discussion and
impress upon him my worry?
