Steve:

I'm a 6'0, 185lb 26 year old getting ready to have my MMA on
the 29th. Previously, I've had septoplasty, TR, GA, uvula-
modification (not UP3), and tonselectomy.

I have a recessed lower jaw, which seems to be the main cause
of my apnea: limited airway causes breathing issues, which
causes apneas.

I'm getting to the point where I"m getting nervous, but then I
realize why I need it once I wake up every morning.

I've only been at my job for 3 months, but fortunately they are
allowing me short-term disability, and I'm also finishing my
Master's this semester. Oh, did I also mention planning an
engagement! It's life, and I'm happy to have all that I do, just
wish I had more energy, but that's what the MMA is for.

You will find SO MUCH support here, it's crazy! WesternJoe,
SleepyinSeattle, and others are really pioneers and have been
great contributors here for years. I've been posting on and off
here and other sites for years, and have really had to work (like
yourself) to get to the spot where I'm a candidate for surgery.

Question about braces: Are you keeping those on during
surgery, and they're going to put the small hooks between the
brackets in order to hold the bands? Most people have arch
bars, but with already having braces, they are placing small
bracket/hooks between each tooth to hold the bands for jaw
stabilization.

Good luck!
