The logistics are a huge job, no question. If you go forward with an MMA you will spend a lot of time on logistics and on perhaps on doctor's appointments too. At work I had to file for intermittent medical leave under the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) because all the doctor's appointments exceeded my normal sick time allowance. Those appointments included sleep doctor (pulmonologist), CPAP therapist, jaw surgeon, and orthodontist.
I needed more advancement on the lower jaw than on the upper jaw, so I had to wear braces for 18 months before the surgery to line my teeth up such that after the surgery my bite would be correct. If you don't need braces then you probably won't have to wait 18 months for surgery like I did.
From the initial surgical consultation to the date of the operation was 2 years for me.
