Why must folks suffer like this?

I am not an MD but I have been where this person is now.

I had many visits to several doctors who wanted to perform all sorts of invasive surgery but I was near death until I found a knowledgeable head of service at a teaching hospital who performed many tests and ordered an emergency trach.

Perhaps the trach is not suggested because it is too easy or the cost is too low compared to other forms of surgery, I do not know.

I do know it is reversible and offers an immediate solution to the terror of apnea and should be considered at very least.

I am not the exception, every person I know who reached this position of no return and had a trach praise this life saving surgery.

Care for the trach is easy and my life style has changed very little as far as a hinderence is concerned.

My life style has been enhanced and I have enjoyed fifteen additional years since the operation when there was no hope for me.
